There is no getting away from smokeless cigarettes these days, they are getting more and more popular all the time so more and more people are talking about them. This also means that more and more people are trying to make money off of them. There seems to be someone selling them around every corner, at the gas station, convenience stores, stalls in the mall and lets not forget the old fashioned way, on the internet.

But is this popularity a good or a bad thing? Lets have a look.

There are a number of good things that come from all of this popularity. One of the big things is raising awareness of smokeless cigarettes, more people talking about them is a good thing, hopefully people talk to others who have never heard of them and spread the word further. This will hopefully result in more people buying these electronic cigarettes, the more people that buy them the more money the manufacturers have to further the products development.

More smokeless cigarette users also means fewer tobacco users, which in turn means that the pockets of the big tobacco firms wont be getting filled quite as much. These tobacco companies make billions of dollars every year by preying on people with a nicotine addiction, trying to keep them addicted and also trying to get more people in the same boat.

We know that E cigarettes are a threat to big tobacco firms as British American Tobacco have recently bought the rights to the “Safe Cigarette” because “In our view, e-cigarettes do not work. People should be able to use nicotine, but in the safest possible way” (quoting David O’Reilly, BAT spokesman), it took them long enough to decide that, after all the years of nicotine patches and gums (which don’t work) they come out with this because they know E cigarettes will take business away from them. And while it has yet to be proven, there are potential health benefits too, stopping smoking tobacco could save thousands, even millions of people from going through the horror of having cancer. There is also a benefit to health services, there is going to be fewer people needing medical help with smoking related illnesses so others with “natural illnesses” will be able to get more attention (is “natural illnesses” the term I’m looking for? I’m not sure). In countries like the UK their national health service wont be under as much stress either, both in terms of man-power and financial strain.

This increased availability isn’t all good though. The main issue I have is that the majority of the electric cigarettes that I have spotted and used in malls or convenience stores have been well below what I could class as being of an “acceptable quality”. This might not seem to be much of an issue, “People will just buy a better device instead” you might say, but for many people who try these substandard devices it is the first and last time they try electronic cigarettes, they are put off of trying any others because of their poor experience they had with them. Not only do they taste horrible and not produce any vapor, they generally don’t last long and break, some people I know have even complained about the mouthpieces overheating to a point where it burns their lips when they take a drag, this is not the introduction to E cigarettes that first time users need, they need to try a higher quality device to give them a real idea of what this great product is capable of.

So what are the benefits of avoiding these retailers and buying smokeless cigarettes online? First of all you are under no pressure to buy your smokeless cigarette when you are looking around online, there isn’t a sales person standing right next to you making you feel uncomfortable and guilty about not buying from them. You can take as long as you want to come to your decision. While you are taking your time you can look through smokeless cigarettes reviews to help you work out what product is going to be right for you. Just be careful there are a number of websites who post up random nonsense about E cigarettes and call them reviews. No one can buy a good review from me, believe me, some companies have tried. If I say something is good then that’s my honest opinion, the same goes for any devices I don’t like.

So by taking time to think and read reviews you should end up with the best electronic cigarette to suit you and your needs the best, if this is the case then the chances of you never turning back to tobacco are increased and at the end of the day that’s what we all want.

The mall type retailers are great for getting people talking about smokeless cigarettes, but I hope that these potential users come online to research some more before they buy anything, it really is the best route for them to take.
